Mona Bjerkness of Thief River Falls, MN age 59 passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at Oakland Park Communities in Thief River Falls, MN after a short battle with cancer.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with Reverend Troy Bates presiding.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Saturday at the funeral home.
Mona Stephanie Hagen was born on September 8, 1953 in Chicago, IL the daughter of Henry and Lorena (LaValley) Hagen. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls, MN.
Mona attended schools in Fergus Falls, MN and graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1972.
While living in Thief River Falls, Mona worked at Thief River Falls Radio. It was her dream job and she loved going to work.
Mona enjoyed her flower garden, spending time with her kids and grandkids, going to Maple Lake, and the past 24 years with Dave.
Survivors include David Widme of Thief River Falls; 3 children, Brian Bjerkness of Minot, ND, Michelle (Tate) Burns of Minot, ND, and Stephanie (Matthew) Overgaard of Fargo, ND; 6 grandchildren, Mariah Burns, Isabella, Braxton, & Emma Overgaard, Christopher & Casi Burns; and many friends.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents; parents; brother, Jerome Hagen; and sister, Rebecca Hagen.

Gordon H. Gunderson, 81, of Mayville, ND died Saturday, May 11, 2013 at the Luther Memorial Home in Mayville under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Gordon was born January 10, 1932 at rural Buxton, ND to Gust and Hilda (Gustafson) Gunderson. He attended rural school at Cummings, ND and Buxton. On October 16, 1954 he was married to Theoline Knudsvig at Ny Stavanger Lutheran Church in Buxton.
Gordon served in the US Army from 1954-1956.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Theoline of Mayville; 2 daughters, Gaylene (Neal) Johnson of Cummings and Trudy (Gary Sundeen) Gunderson of Thompson, ND; son, Kevin (Sharon) of Dexter, MN; 7 siblings, Myron (Donna) of Bismarck, ND, Mavis (Bill) Couchigan of Grand Forks, ND, Rodney (Lila Jean) of Mayville, Wallace (Marilyn) of Grand Forks, Dennis (Lorna) of Grand Forks, Rosalie Lindstrom of Grand Forks, and Diane Kvitne of Hillsboro, ND; sister-in-law, Valerie Gunderson of Buxton; 9 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials are preferred to Hospice of the Red River Valley, or the Gideons.
Visitation: 5-7 PM on Monday, May 13, 2013 with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Ny Stavanger Free Lutheran Church, Buxton, ND.
Funeral Service: 10:30 AM Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at the Riverside Evangelical Free Church, Mayville, ND with a visitation one hour prior to the funeral service.

Sidney Duell, Jr.
Sidney G. Duell, Jr, 67, of Emerado, ND died Thursday, May 9, 2013 of Cancer at the Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND.
Sidney Duell Jr. was born June 30, 1945 in Evergreen Park. IL the son of Sidney and Alice (Evoy) Duell Sr. He grew up and attended school in Roberts Park, IL. He married Elizabeth Verbic on April 15, 1967 in Summit, IL. He drove truck for numerous trucking firms for many years. He served his country in the US Navy from 1962-1964. He married Alison Carivau on March 31, 1999 in Grafton, ND. He owned and operated the S and A Logistics Trucking Company in East Grand Forks for many years.
He is survived by his wife Alison of Emerado, ND, children Charles (Kristie Plecity) Duell of Aberdeen, SD, William Duell of Portage, WI, step son Cory (Jennifer Barnes) Carivau of Grand Forks, 1 granddaughter Alexandra Hoff, and 1 sister Lucy (Douglas) Dewsnap, of Endeavor, WI. He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Jennifer Duell, and 2 brothers Charles and Edward Duell.
