Accident
On May 11 at 6:14 p.m., the sheriff’s office received a report of an accident near the intersection of 220th Avenue Northeast and 180th Street Northeast. At the time of the accident, Ashley M. Martell of Thief River Falls was driving a 2011 Chevy Aveo northbound on 220th Avenue Northeast. According to the report, she lost control of the car, which then traveled into a ditch and rolled. No injuries were reported to Martell or her passenger. The report indicated that neither were wearing seat belts. The car was totalled.
Theft
After an investigation into a May 10 report of a theft at Seven Clans Casino, Hotel and Water Park, an individual has been cited. Damon Marquisz Williams, 19, Hampton, Ark., has been cited for theft. He allegedly stole a Samsung Proclaim cell phone owned by a Middle River woman. The theft was reported in last week’s edition of The Times.
Accident, failure to obey a traffic control device, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a small amount of marijuana
On May 13 at 7:24 p.m., police received a report of an accident at the intersection of First Street and Main Avenue. At the time of the accident, Sophia Marie Hoglo, 19, Thief River Falls, was driving a 2002 GMC Sonoma. According to the report, she failed to stop for a red stoplight. Her pickup truck then collided with a southbound 2010 Chrysler van driven by Christopher A. Olson of Warroad. No injuries were reported to either driver, Hoglo’s passenger or Olson’s two passengers. With the exception of Hoglo’s passenger, all parties were properly restrained. Damage was estimated to be more than $1,000. Hoglo has been cited for failure to obey a traffic control device and possession of drug paraphernalia. Her passenger, 20-year-old Nicholas James Sehlstrom of Thief River Falls, has been cited for possession of a small amount of marijuana.
Vandalism
On May 16 at 5:17 p.m., police received a report of vandalism in the Knight Avenue parking lot. A Thief River Falls woman reported that someone had dumped tuna on her parked vehicle. The report doesn’t indicate whether the vehicle sustained damage.
Driving while impaired and refusal to submit to an alcohol-level test
On May 14 at 9:56 p.m., police performed a traffic stop near the intersection of Eighth Street and Davis Avenue. Jerod Erik Carlson, 28, Thief River Falls, has charges pending for DWI and refusal to submit to an alcohol-level test.
Disorderly conduct, criminal damage to property and underage consumption
On May 15 at 6:31 p.m., police received a report of a disturbance at 626 Greenwood St. E. Isaiah Martin Zuniga, 19, Thief River Falls, has been cited for disorderly conduct, criminal damage to property and underage consumption. He was arrested. Zuniga was allegedly fighting and caused less than $100 in property damage.
Fourth degree criminal damage to property
On May 15 at 10:45 p.m., police received a report of property damage at Pathfinders. A 15-year-old Kennedy male has charges pending for fourth degree criminal damage to property. He allegedly damaged some items inside the building. Damage was estimated to be less than $500.
Theft
On May 15 at 8:06 p.m., police received a report of shoplifting at Walmart. Lynda Marie Neadeau, 48, Red Lake, and Irvin Clyde Hamm, 65, Goodridge, both have charges pending for theft. Sheila Renae Stately, 33, Red Lake, has been cited for theft. They allegedly tried leaving the store without paying for less than $1,000 in merchandise.
Vandalism
On May 15 at 11:39 p.m., police received a report of vandalism outside of 523 Arnold Ave. N. A man reported that someone had broken a window on a vehicle. Damage was estimated to be less than $250.
Issuance of dishonored checks
The following people have charges pending for the issuance of dishonored checks: Esequial Laguna Jr., 46, and Jason Scott Lafontaine, 32, both from Thief River Falls, have both been cited for the issuance of dishonored checks. Each individual’s checks totalled less than $250.

On May 9 at 7:23 p.m., police received a report of an all-terrain vehicle accident in the 600 block of Brooks Ave. S. Upon arriving at the scene, police found Kirk Allen Walton lying near the 2003 Arctic Cat 400. Walton was taken to Sanford Medical Center with a broken rib, according to the police report. A Sanford nursing supervisor said Walton was later transferred to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, N.D. An Altru nursing supervisor said Walton was listed in serious condition Monday afternoon. According to the report, it appeared Walton was northbound on Brooks Avenue South, when he lost control of the ATV. The ATV then went into a ditch and rolled. It was unknown if Walton was wearing a helmet. The ATV sustained an unknown dollar amount in damage. Walton, 41, Thief River Falls, has been cited for driving after revocation and no insurance.
Felony domestic assault
On May 12 at 1 p.m., the sheriff’s office received a 911 call regarding a domestic assault in the 400 block of Fourth St. W. in St. Hilaire. James Edson Hillyer, 55, St. Hilaire, has charges pending for felony domestic assault. He was arrested. Hillyer allegedly assaulted a woman. The report doesn’t indicate whether the woman sought medical attention.
Felony vehicle theft, gross misdemeanor check forgery and gross misdemeanor theft
On May 2 at 1:14 p.m., police received a report of a vehicle theft. The 2005 Ford Escape was found later that day in Challenger Mobile Home Park. Jessica Ann Lafriniere, 29, Thief River Falls, has charges pending for felony motor vehicle theft, gross misdemeanor check forgery and gros s m isdemeanor theft. The latter pending charge stems from the alleged theft of check blanks and other items, which were inside the vehicle.
Vandalism
On May 6 at 7:18 a.m., the sheriff’s office received a report of vandalism at the Thief River Golf Club. Staff reported that someone drove a vehicle across the driving range, causing extensive damage. The #2 tee box was also damaged. The 1995 Chevy Suburban was found stuck in a ditch in the field south of the golf course. Damage was estimated to be $1,000. The incident remains under investigation.
Unattended dog
On May 7 at 12:21 p.m., police received a report that a dog had been locked in a vehicle with no food or water in the 100 block of Belleville Ct. Ashley Nicole Qualls, 18, Thief River Falls, has been cited for an unattended dog. A passerby reported the dog had been seen in the vehicle twice during a time period of at least four hours. Police and the Pennington County Humane Society removed the dog from the vehicle. The dog was distressed but OK.
Vandalism
On April 20 at 12:36 p.m., police received a report of vandalism outside of Foxtail Townhomes, 1003 Longren Ave. A man reported that his vehicle had been egged. The vehicle sustained an unknown dollar amount in damage.
Theft
On May 3 at 8:06 a.m., police received a report of a theft outside of 619 State Ave. N. A man reported that someone stole the fog lights off of his truck. The theft loss was less than $500.
Theft
On May 3 at 9:45 p.m., police received a report of a theft at Northland Village, 1510 Hwy. 1 E. A 16-year-old male and a 15-year old male, both from Thief River Falls, have charges pending for theft. They allegedly stole less than $250 from their grandmother’s purse.
Disorderly conduct
On May 4 at 3 p.m., police received a report of a disturbance at 1554 U.S. Hwy. 59 S. Chad Alan Johnson, 42, Viking, has been cited for disorderly conduct. He allegedly banged on doors, screamed and tried to pick a fight.
Issuance of dishonored checks
The following people have been cited for the issuance of dishonored checks: Shane Ray Vareberg, 27, Thief River Falls; John Joseph Dennis Jr., 46, Warroad; and Mark Allen Sundquist, 46, Gonvick. Each individual’s checks totalled less than $250.

On May 5 at 2:54 p.m., police received a report of vandalism outside of Foxtail Townhomes, 1004 Longren Ave. A man reported that someone had slashed a tire on his vehicle. Damage was estimated to be less than $500.
Scam
On May 7 at 6:39 p.m., police received a report of a scam. A Thief River Falls woman reported that she was planning to rent a house in Tennessee through Craigslist. She sent a deposit of less than $500 and later learned that it was a scam possibly run by someone in Wyoming.
Disorderly conduct
On May 8 at 10:56 a.m., police received a report of a disturbance at Dee’s Kitchen. Brandon Lee Bergeron, 44, Thief River Falls, has been cited for disorderly conduct. He allegedly fell off of a stool, swore at employees and engaged in disruptive behavior.
Theft
On May 10 at 8:58 p.m., the sheriff’s office received a report of a theft at Seven Clans Casino, Hotel and Water Park. A Middle River woman reported that someone had stolen a Samsung Proclaim cell phone. The theft loss was less than $500.
Third degree criminal damage to property

On May 12 at 1:39 p.m., police received a report that a pit bull was carrying a cat in its mouth in the 700 block of Conley Ave. S. Anthony David Rhode, 25, Thief River Falls, has been cited for dog running at large. The cat died.
Theft
On May 12 at 5:40 p.m., police received a report of a theft at 416 Main Ave. N. A woman reported that her checkbook and debit/credit cards were missing.

Felony fifth degree controlled substance crime, third degree refusal to submit to chemical testing, driving after suspension, possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and obstruction of the legal process
On April 30 at 8:26 p.m., police performed a traffic stop near the intersection of Main Avenue and Fourth Street. Brittany Kay Rasmussen, 18, Thief River Falls, has been charged with felony fifth degree controlled substance crime, third degree refusal to submit to chemical testing, driving after suspension and possession of a small amount of marijuana. She was arrested. Branden Wayne Rausch, 19, Thief River Falls, has been cited for obstruction of the legal process, possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. According to the complaint against R asmussen, When talking to Rasmussen, an officer allegedly smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. While the officer spoke with Rasmussen, Rausch exited the vehicle. Both of them allegedly told the officer that the keys were inside the vehicle. After a pat-down search, the officer found the keys on Rausch and unlocked the vehicle. Officers allegedly found that Rasmussen’s purse contained a small clear glass pipe with suspected methamphetamine residue, three small bags of suspected meth, $808 in cash and receipts of cash transactions. Three small bags of suspected marijuana and a baggie of suspected meth were found inside a pouch. A backpack contained a glass pipe believed to be used to smoke meth and it contained a small amount of residue. Numerous items of drug paraphernalia were also found inside the vehicle.
Third degree refusal to submit to chemical testing, possession of drug paraphernalia, felony fifth degree controlled substance crime and contempt of court
On May 5 at 1:58 a.m., police performed a traffic stop near the intersection of Second Street and Knight Avenue. Jared Wayne Maurstad, 20, Argyle, has charges pending for third degree refusal to submit to chemical testing and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arrested. Brittany Kay Rasmussen, 18, Thief River Falls, has charges pending for felony fifth degree controlled substance crime, possession of drug paraphernalia and contempt of court. She was arrested. Traces of meth and marijuana were allegedly found. The pending contempt charge stemmed from Rasmussen allegedly violating the conditions of her release.
Property damage
On A pril 28 at 7:43 p.m., the sheriff’s office received a report of property damage at 2033 Danny Dr. A woman reported that she heard a loud boom and then noticed a small hole in a window at her home. The hole was believed to have been caused by a BB or pellet apparently shot from a gun across the river in the area of Basswood Trailer Court. Damage was estimated to be less than $500.
Theft
On April 30 at 1:37 p.m., police received a report of an internal theft at Walmart. Cynthia Marie Borg, 55, Viking, has charges pending for theft. She allegedly stole less than $1,000.
Criminal damage to property
On April 30 at 8:53 a.m., police received a report of vandalism in the Lincoln High School parking lot. A 15-year-old Thief River Falls female and Kerry Anne Strub, 18, Middle River, have charges pending for criminal damage to property. They allegedly keyed a vehicle belonging to a Thief River Falls man three days prior to the report to police. Damage was estimated to be less than $1,000.
Theft
On April 30 at 1:34 p.m., police received a report of a theft at Lincoln High School. Staff reported the theft of a MacBook Air laptop computer valued at $1,000.
Possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a small amount of marijuana
On April 26 at 6:47 p.m., police performed a traffic stop near the intersection of Highway 32 and Wendt Drive. Rachel Marie Bring, 19, Goodridge, has been cited for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a small amount of marijuana.
Theft
On April 27 at 8:24 p.m., police received a report of a theft at Falls DAC. Michael Isiah Hickey, 29, and Justin James Grove, 25, both of Thief River Falls, have both been cited for theft. They allegedly stole bags of empty pop cans valued at less than $100.
Issuance of dishonored checks
The following people have been cited for the issuance of dishonored checks: Sandra Kay Hensrud, 30, Red Lake Falls; Diane Elaine Dohm, 60, Grygla; and Cassie Lynn Bessler, 31, Wannaska. Each individual’s checks totalled less than $250.
Leaving the scene of an accident involving property damage
On May 1 at 1:01 p.m., the sheriff’s office received a report of a hit and run accident at 16250 Sorteberg Dr. A man reported that his neighbor saw a vehicle collide with the man’s fence. The motorist then allegedly left the scene. Skyler Alden Skadsem, 19, Thief River Falls, has been cited for leaving the scene of an accident involving property damage. The fence sustained an unknown dollar amount in damage.
Theft
On May 2 at 12:19 p.m., police received a report of a theft at Walmart. Whitney Marie Roan Eagle, 25, Thief River Falls, has been cited for theft. She allegedly stole merchandise valued at less than $100.
Contempt of court
On May 2 at 11:54 p.m., police received a report that a vehicle was traveling fast in the area of the 400 block of Conley Ave. S. Police stopped the vehicle. The passenger, 19-year-old August Jason Cheeney of Thief River Falls, was cited for contempt of court. He was arrested. Cheeney was allegedly in the vehicle with someone who is under the age of 18. According to his conditions of release, he isn’t supposed to be in the company of people under the age of 18.
Theft under $500, probation violation and contempt of court
On May 3 at 5:40 p.m., police received a report of a theft at SuperOne Foods. Ricardo Martinez, 22, Thief River Falls, has been cited for theft under $500. He was arrested on a probation violation. Arnoldo Martinez Jr., 25, Thief River Falls, was cited for theft under $500 and contempt of court. He was also arrested. The brothers allegedly stole meat valued at less than $100.
Driving while impaired
On May 5 at 4:19 a.m., the sheriff’s office received a report that a vehicle was parked diagonally across a road in Section 16 of Numedal Township. Shawn Arthur Klamar, 27, Gatzke, has charges pending for DWI. He was arrested
