The Thief River Falls City Council last night hosted their Annual Truth in Taxation Hearing with a proposed property tax increase of nearly 6.5 % next year.
City Finance Director, Angie Philipp, outlined various factors effecting property taxes and how taxes are calculated, including the proposed increase, calculated to match growing tax capacity.
In spite of increasing property values most home owners will see little or no impact from the levy increase.
Aldermen have until December 31st to approve the final levy, which can be lowered but can not be increased from the proposed 6.48%.
